so now that i have some spare time, im looking to rebuild my old 5s...

i would like some comments and suggestions:
this is what i have in mind...

  1. machine block and get pistons accordingly(if necessary)
  2. machine the crank
  3. grind cams if injured
  4. inspect valves.
  5. possibly bigger fuel injectors and a new pump?

(need suggestions of which to get)
  • lighter flywheel
  • lighter crank pulley
  • lighter crankshaft (do they make them for the celi?)

and then just bolt ons...headers, exhaust, intake, radiator etc.

lmk if i missed anything out and if something doesnt sound rite
i need some info of what and where to get them from and then some numbers ill most likely get from doing all this?

1. do not get a light crank pulley. most arent balanced and will kill your engine
2. there is NO reason go upgrade anything fuel related unless you turbo, or go crazy with NA mods

you're looking at a 2000-3000 rebuild there and u will gain ~15 HP at the most.

id go with high compression pistons, port and polish, bore, and performance ground cams and then i would guess you're looking at maybe an additional 50-100 HP at the crank WITH PROPER TUNING AND THE ELECTRONICS TO SUPPORT TUNING.

even then you're still running an autofailbox
