If you need to remove the shifter assembly, there are 2 upside-down U looking pins in the back of it that hold the shifter cables in place, pry them up and they'll come out (you can see them in the 3rd picture in the link below). On the shifter, there are pins that just need popped out to release the cables from it. The one on the bottom can be a pain - always cuts up my knuckles. Besides those 4 clips/pins, there are 4 bolts and it's out.
