I found a video of a guy with a 5th gen Celica Alltrac that swapped in a v6 & kept his car AWD. Probably old news for a lot of you but it was new to me when I saw it. The video is here.
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/176894/gt4_alltrac_v6/ The search function on here doesn't let you search for two or three letter words so V6 + AWD doesn't come up with anything. I'm sure that the guy has to hang out on one of the forums, either here or Celicatech, alltrac.net, GT4oc or one of the MR2 forums. Any one know him, or have additional info on the car. I'm interested in seeing the challenges associated with this swap. A supercharged or twin turbo V6 GT4 would be awesome. I'd love to see more. Please don't flame me for asking? I did try to search. |

if you are serious about doing this than i would suggest the 2GRFE over any yota motors.. it WILL "bolt" up to the trans (w/ some light grinding and a few helicals/taping of some existing holes.) MR2's that get this swap done are regularly getting approx 275-W-hp.. that is across the E153.. with no other "mods" than just what it takes to get it to swap over (exhaust work). IMO it would be exactly what you are looking for.. PLUS!!! it is about 100Lbs lighter than a swapped 3SGTE.. i am sure you would gain allot of that back if you chose to put a turbo on the set-up, but then there would be no comparison between the two.. just take a look at whats going on over on MR2OC.com in the V6 section..
and the celica "should" have enough room in the bay to fit a turbo, especially if you do a trunk mounted battery. the MkII MRII has next to no room compare to the celica (in the bay). and yet there are a few current boosted dues, and projects in the works as we speak.. AND!!! the air flow would be sooooooooo much better too!! (in comparison) If you drop the tank (and go with an in cabin fuel cell) then there would be enough room under the car for a pair of remote mounted turbo's... but then the choke point would be the center tunnel and careful attention would have to be paid to avoiding heat transfer between the exhaust and the charged pipe.. (though i believe that if both components were wrapped and separated by a heat deflector then that should take care of that.. -------------------- |
