Hey everyone,

Since I got my 96 Curren last July my exhaust has played up twice. What's happened is that after I've come of the motorway (doing 100kmh around 3000 ish rpm in 5th I think) and drive through 50kmh areas my exhaust is unbelievably loud. It's like it's blown or something and if I stop, turn the car off, go away for an hour or so and come back, it'll be loud still. But what's weird is the next day it'll be back to it's normal quiet self.

It looks like a fairly standard muffler. But given that there's extractors coming from the engine I think there may have been an aftermarket muffler on it once upon a time. I'm not exactly brilliant on car knowledge but what I think has happened is that a previous owner has put on the extractors and exhaust, but when he sold the car he took the muffler with him and put the standard one back on it. Could the standard muffler not be able to handle the higher flow the extractors put out, especially driving in higher speed areas?

Cheers!
