This past weekend I went to a quarter mile dragstrip 1.5 hour away from my house for the first time since I swapped.
I ran a 14.6 against my good friend in the genesis coupe. he ran a 15.4. I was on low boost 8psi stock boost for me is 15psi still breaking motor in, wont turn it up until 3k miles whats funny is that with my first 4th gen swap, i ran a 14.2 on 15psi! i had crappy 205 40 tires, and spun ALOT. that must be the MAIN reason why i ran so slow... i decided to do a 3rd run and broke something related to the drive train.... FML. I'm thinking its either a broken clutch or my axle popped out. I havent had a chance to get under the car as work has been kicking my butt!! Symptoms that make me think I broke something related to the clutch (possibly disc) is that 1. car will not stall out when I put it in gear and release clutch 2. I can shift through all gears while the car is still on WITHOUT pressing the clutch (reverse will grind a little) when i got home and unloaded the car from a trailer borrowed from a friend, we found that tranny fluid was on the ground. My friend says that the axle probably popped out, which may be true because i noticed that there was axle grease on the subframe. Hopefully its just a messed up axle!! i REALLY dont want to remove that tranny!! if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to add! (video of my race is on facebook in the 6gc group) my specs for the drive train are: s54 tranny, comp 6 puck clutch gt axles. -------------------- |

you should buy upgraded axles if you are sticking with the S54, the OEM axles will not take abusive launches too well, we've seen 4 trans with snapped axles in the last year alone. none E153. or the cheaper way, launch better lol, if you are snapping axles, it means you were also losing traction if the tires were to spin, you need smoother launch, less power when launching = more traction, and once you are moving you can apply more power steadly. I'd still upgrade the axles tho. ^^^TRUTH but here's the weird thing.... I was only at 8psi! it was my 2nd time EVER at a drag strip. so i def need to get some practice in! You and cars don't get along. I suggest you just take up cross stitching instead. Much safer for you. i tried... i almost put an eye out! lol wow thats an awesome break. did you get the broken part out of the diff? we tried to get it out with a magnet first but that didnt work, then we had to remove the driver side axle and push it out from there -------------------- |
