Possible Front LSD Group Buy: Details inside!!!!!&, Just getting the word out to any 185/205 owners.. Options

Alright ill get right down the nitty gritty. Over on alltrac.net it seems Alot of folks have been trying to organize a group buy for a front LSD for both the 185/205. Tried going with M-factory here in america, but they turned us down due to the cost of manufacturing said lsd. So through a random turn of events quiafe has decided to handle the task but ask for an initial 30 buyers.

Also the list now sits at 22 possible buyers including myself and we are awaiting the factory diff to arrive at quiafe so they can begin measurements!!

OK so I had a pretty awesome random lunch break today. I went to my buddies performance shop to check on some stuff I'm having powdercoated and I find that he is on the phone with Motovicity. He asks me if there is anything wierd I need for my car that I can't find. Of course after noticing that he's talking to them I tell him to ask Quaife about a front LSD. Turns out that Scott Cole the US rep for Quaife happens to be standing right there at Moto and he gets on the phone. He said that we can send them the diff and have measurements taken. I told him that M-factory had told us no but we were hoping a larger company could make this happen. He told us that after the specs were taken that we would need 30 people minimum to have this made. He also said that they are having a shipment going back to Quaife within a week or two. Scott made it sound as though this would be easy for them to make. He said pricing would more than likely not pass 950.00. Now I know that Tempracerguy said he would send his diff out for them to inspect but if not I can tear my trans apart again and send them mine. I will PM him and ask. I plan to spearhead this group buy for everyone on the forum but I want to make sure that is cool with the community. I'd like to get an adjusted list going for a new group buy that way we know that we have 30 interested buyers. Here's all the info


Quaife front LSD (either Helical or Clutch type/ have not got this info yet until we get consensus from Quaife)
Price: 950.00 estimated max
Amount of buyers with payment made to Advanced Race Technologies: 30
E.T.A: They said that after they had the factory diff in hand it would be two weeks tops for R and D. So figure this will take a couple months between shipping to them,R and D, Production and shipping the final product to ART.
Payment: I am pretty sure that the payment process will be handled by my friends shop: ART. Obviously this is a ways off but wanted everyone to know whats going to happen.

Now as I get more info on this I will update this thread or I can start a new one if the Moderators prefer. I am sorry if this sounded pretty run-on but it got me very excited to have spoke with someone from Quaife personally hear this is perfectly do-able.

I know this may sound like a long shot but this type of group buy is long overdue. For those that even think they want to be apart of this please voice up and get added to the list. Im sure there are many nay-sayers who think this will not work..er-hem: nobody wants/needs a front lsd (because the stock open one is sooo much better)....but things like this wont ever happen if people think like that...besides we just need 30 buyers and it doesnt hurt to put your name on there...

Also if anyone wants i can be the POC for this GB if nobody wants to register on the site. Wont be handling money, but more or less the flow of information...Just start a list if you are interested and also if the mods deem this to be in the wrong place, or just irresponsible then i apologize in advance and feel free to move or stop this if you think the best interest of the members of this site arent in mind..

Just out of curiosity, are you under the assumption that this diff will be used for the MR2 and/or st202-st204 transmissions?
If so then this is only for the 185/205 awd versions.

I do not know if this diff would work with them but dosent the 93^ MR2 tranny and 94^ celica tranny share the same gearing/differential?
Im asking because they should both be able to use the same aftermarket LSD's that are out there, correct?



Also to answer your previous concern, the 205/185 do use the same spline count on the transmission side and you can even swap gearboxes btwn the two if you like.
