Hey guys whats goin on my name is Dakota.
Ok here goes. First i want to say that for over 10 years ive been a huge fan of the Lancer Evolution. I used to do nothing but research about that car and my family owned one at one time but it was short lived. Then one day my intrests changed, i grew fond of the late 80's to late 90's cars My first car i bought when i was 18 was a 1988 porsche 944 turbo S. But again that was short lived. ( The guy that had it before me didnt take care of it and it was a ticking time bomb). Now dont think im a spoiled rich kid cause im not i worked hard for that car and turned out i bought a dud. Anyways i was planning on buying a AE86 corolla after that but then my job went through, and now four years later i finally have a great paying awesome stable job and can now afford to buy and build a car. My Wife is awesome enough to back me up in it saying she is excited about it and i have the help of my UTI graduated older brother, our awesome huge shop/garage, and our best buddy for a fabricator. Now your probably either gettin ready to stop reading or wondering what this has to do with the 6g Celica. Well here it goes instead of getting a rwd corolla or my 2nd choice 86-89 rx7 i want a AWD, and i want a 2 door so the Evo is out. i thought about around the 98 impreza 2 door but it really dont appeal to me that much. Back before i knew about Evos i would see a 6g celica on the road and they drew my attention. Now your probably guessing where this is goin. Im wanting to Embark on a g6 Celica gt four swap and before you comment saying its not worth the time or money or other things about how hard the AWD swap is i already know it aint goin to be a cake walk. Ive searched a few threads and seen what people have done and the trouble they have been through. im ready for it. Now im working on researching all the needed info and what needs to be done before i start. if you have any experience in a full 3sgte swap with awd your info is much helpful. Here are things i want to get out of the way before there implyed that way you guys know how serious i am. 1. I have a 01 rodeo as my DD so i have plenty of time i can spen on this project 2. im doing this, it may take years and a load of $$$ but im ready for it 3. i have the place, tools, and proper helpers to help me along in building i just need a little info from people who may have attempted/ succeeded in the past at this swap. But so far this is what i have lined up. Im looking at finding a Shell in decent condition under $1000. it dont need a motor or tranny of course cause i aint using it to begin with. I have already talked with someone about buying a whole GT FOUR front clip with all the parts needed for the awd as in every piece. Im looking at doing a setup for the local mountain roads around here where i live so help in the suspension dept is welcome as im wanting to get about 330 hp for now not worried about much more till later Like i said though info is welcome and i hope i didnt bore anyone or give the wrong impression that im being a jerk or something its just ive seen so many forum sites with people wanting to do things like this and others put them down for something that is very possible. thanks guys hope i get some replys soon see ya |
