Just seeing what the widest tire anyone has or has seen. Trying to get an idea for what the wheel well will handle , tho my project has some special circumstances. Still would like and idea

Celica rears are pretty wide... I'd dare say at least a 245 fits back there... I think I've seen 17x9 wheels on these cars. That said, you could always do fender pulling or custom widebody fender flares. That'd look nice.
I mean, if you're going for some kind of extreme swap (V8 RWD Celica is extreme enough for me) I don't think you should worry about what the widest wheel you can fit is. I think body work (wheel fitment in particular) is much easier than drivetrain work...
