Filled up yesterday. Got home & noticed a strong gas smell in the gas tank area.

Is there a " History " of the tanks getting rusted out in any certain areas or connections // fittings going bad? Before I take it to the shop & put on a lift, it would be good to have the info. I'll check the filler neck areas, fuel line connections // fittings, lines & hoses, & sending unit mount area.

Any thing I'm forgetting?

Thanks for any tips!

My filler neck was also rotting out (only rust on my car luckily), it smelled gas quite a lot when you were near it. Replaced it and no gas fumes anymore.
