94 celica st, 5spd 7afe.

I went to check the timing yesterday evening and when was ready to check it i turned the key got power but she wont crank. So i checked the fuses, relay's, grounds, and all are good well checked the starter cable with a meter and im not getting NO power whatsoever.

So today i start messing with it again i double check the same stuff it was all good, so i took off the starter cable cleaned the conections wire seems fine i accidentally touch it to the bell housing and got sparks so i don't think it's in the cable. The starters good i manually jumped it and it is fine.

The only thing i can figure is its the ignition switch or clutch safety switch. I need to know how to bypass the ignition switch and safety switch before i go wasting money. I'm leaning towards the clutch safety switch, but my down fall is wiring so any help on the matter will help me greatly.

Any and all ideas are welcome, and i'll appreciate it alot.

Fixed her and timed her think god it was a free fix. Thanks for the help it was the clutch safety switch like i suspected jumped the plug ol girl fired right up.

Kitten: It's located on your drivers side kick panel right behind the clutch pedal about 4 inches above, although your problem sounds fuel, spark or timing related.

Again kurt thanks for the conformation.

One moe question is it normal for these engines to ping knock aroun 2-3k? Once i fiddled with the timing alot of it went away, but this engine and the previous one both did it. Doesn't do it below or above just a sweet spot between 2-3k ish.

Thanks anyways, figures I wouldn't get a quick fix but it was worth a shot! I'm not sure if the ping knock is normal either(doubt it), but I also get that between 2-3k ish. It's a lot better now then a couple weeks ago since I changed the spark plugs/wires and ran 91 octane with some cleaner thru her. I haven't done anything with the timing as it seems to idle and run just fine aside from that slight ping knock which I can't even hear with the radio on low...
