Hey everyone,

I'm looking at buying my third 6th gen celi, but the only turn off is that it's an auto. It's really nice white with leather and side skirts, but the auto trans is a deal breaker for me. I've heard of people doing trans swaps, I'm just wondering if it is fairly easy? Please let me know what to do.

Thanks for any help!!!

Depends...

There is alot of things to swap out, but it is one of the...easier swaps to accomplish IMO.

If you've done a clutch job on your own, I would say you could accomplish this.

i will totally disagree, i would rather do another V6 swap than an auto to manual. you have to ADD so many parts its not even funny, and its stupid expensive. just hold out for a 5 speed. you will find one

Meh, I just pulled all those parts out of my ST for a swap....it is really not that much.

I personally believe it all matters on the persons knowledge.

If this is there first time doing someone pretty mechanical...I would avoid it a lot. I certainly cannot see how dropping a whole engine would be easier then dropping a trannie, crossmember, cables, few switches, plate/clutch, shifting assembly..which is nearly everything, compared to the multiple items including all those for an engine drop/removal.

The only part that really sucked was removing the pedals.

But, if you have a choice to purchase a manual over an auto...certainly go with manual. I did not say that in my first reply.

This cannot be emphasized enough. Terrible workspace, no place for your arms. Wretched.

Maybe look at a local junkyard, see if a C52 or S54 is available. Otherwise, I shall let you know how difficult the swap is in due time. I'm at the final stage of gathering parts.
