Hi, i have two Toyota celica's 6th gen sitting with me. Both are 1994. one is the ST with 1.8 motor and other is the GT-S with 2.2.
The problem is that the transmission on 2.2 is bad. So, my question is that can i put in the transmission of my 1.8 into 2.2? |

Yes, but it's a lot of work. You'll need to drill new holes for the passenger side motor mount, reuse all the 1.8 mounts, have the exhaust switched over or fabricate new exhaust, axles, shift cables, I think the master/slave cylinders might be different, and a couple of other small things I'm probably forgetting. It's very doable, especially since you have both cars and all parts readily available. It shouldn't take more than a few days.
For the amount of time and work involved, it would be quicker/easier to simply find a used S54 transmission for your GT. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates.
