Ok - we've thought about doing this for quite some time now. Old coupe parts car, hitting the dirt track... with an EVENTUAL beams in the engine bay.
Just some love... Terribly rusted bumper and bumper mounts Redneck Car Lift While in the air we dropped the exhaust and the gas tank and examined the under body. It looks surprisingly GOOD! The shock towers are solid, not rusted. The shocks seem to work, and the rear subframe is for the most part in tact. A removal, sand blast, lube up, and a good painting will make it really smooth for full racecar adjustment. Back to the interior... And finally... Dash Out And Finally again.... doors and fenders off as well, as well as all glass, no gas tank, no dash, only pedals -------------------- |

I think Turnip prefers a welded diff over his factory S54 with limited slip. Seems like I remember him saying the difference in the final drive (a difference of only .02) was the difference between him topping out and getting passed on the straights or being able to keep pulling and accelerating. However, the BEAMS ECU is limited to 180 km/hr, which I can do in 4th gear so he must have a speed cut defender. It's worth asking him about. That really only applies to his track. My tracks are going to be different lengths and everything, no way to really tell until you drive it. Welded differentials though put heavy wear on the axles if there are too many tight turns. i think this build is awesome. I went out on some dirt roads the other day with the celica, and yea its fun sliding around haha - glad you like it. With any luck we'll see some Celica racing dominance here soon something looks different about this car.. haha what does that mean? haha i was kidding, i havent seen a complete gutted celica shell before lol You should probably just come to my garage then..... as I currently have two lol oh didnt know. i missed that part. haha it's all good. So did kurt - The cage is going to take the longest cause we're custom fabbing ours up, not using some "premade" kit cage. Screw that.... build a rally car instead. You can actually turn towards the right sometimes! LOL - I tried convincing my other "car mechanic" a while back we ought to build a rally car. And he agrees, it would be fun as all heck, but your only "enemy" is the clock, and I think he prefers passing On a side note, given that we're only about 3 hours apart, next time you have a rally in PA or WV let me know, we might be interested in giving a watch This post has been edited by ricochet1490: Jul 19, 2012 - 12:26 AM -------------------- |
