Use a little imagination here
today I marked up how much I need to trim off the fender bottom edge and also the tubular part of the lamp on the bumper. The idea is I wont need the middle lamps so I can have 1 as a air intake and the other to be flushed out. The fitting of these lamps will be more aerodynamic than the stock ones and best of all, these are clear lense and have projector halos in them B) This post has been edited by yellowchinaman: Jan 6, 2014 - 3:11 PM |

Today I got off my ass and started working on the head lamps. They've been sitting on my shelf for months now after failing to graft the dodge neon lamps to the celica because I didn't want to cut my wings, bumper and carbon bonnet to make them fit.
So I got my self a set of outer lamps and clear lenses. Now what I'm about to do should not be attempted by an amature or if you have a faint heart. Though I've spent hundreds on the lamps, I had to accept that if it goes tits up I'm gonna bin it all. But then again if I don't try then it's all going to waste anyway. The aim is to cut it down to size of the dodge neon projectors and install the internals into the stock housing keeping origional fixings. The results should be a hybrid head lamp with everything in just the outer clusters freeing my inside high lamps for air ducts. So first off. Stock lens off. Was like opening oysters. 1 slip and you're in A&E. Same goes to the dodge neon lense Test fit of the clear lens which still needs some work Cleat lens over the neon lamps to see what needs cutting off. Then cut down to size Now compare the housing Cut the stock front fixings out Now cut back the neon housing keeping the lamp fixings only and all together it looks like this all 3 put together looks like this Now I've had enough I'm off for a beer. Next time when I can be bothered, I need to do the same to the other side lamps and I'm going to bolt it all together, test fit for angles. Then fibreglass the two front and rear half of the housing together, smooth it down and spray it black and then put the new lens on. TBC...
