A few things to check...IIRC

Jap had a different air conditioning control unit....the UK one is very basic
The rear diff of UK cars has a plastic diff airflow thingy (cant remember if that was just WRCs)
UK cars have a bigger gearbox oil cooler
Jap cars have really weak seat belt tensioners
UK cars have a long thin rear number plate surround, the jap ones have the taller narrower type but these can be easily changed and often are.
The vin plate should be the give away

That sticker on the second photo would make me think its a Jap car imported to the UK (most are)

If its a jap car imported to the UK, theres bound to be a japanese coin under the carpet somewhere.

Although technically they were all made in Japan :-)

whats the fitting so i can replace the oil cooler and lines, is it all BSPT or is it banjo on the gearbox (would be easier)

As far as I remember the fittings are all the same, if you want to upgrade, probably easier to get an after market oil cooler, you can fit what ever lines you want to it then.
