Take 2!

Hi everyone, my name is Rob and I joined a long while ago just lurking. About a year and a half ago, I had the opportunity to purchase a very very clean 97 GTS. Sale never ended up going through as the buyer for my car backed out.

The first intro and details are here. First Introduction

Anyways, things have changed and I said I'd be back.

First up, ended up picking up a 6th gen finally! It's a 1994 GT-Four WRC biggrin.gif

The turbo is seized, I have someone about to rebuild it for a very good price so it's going to be kept as a part time daily since I have a truck for work and will only drive it the odd time when I have time off.

Next up, my 2000 Celica GTS was taken off the road and a swap is underway...

Yes, that's a VQ35 from a 350z and yes I have too much time on my hands. I have all the parts to make the swap happen and I'm about 75% complete welding the trans tunnel in.

I still have my ae86, it's just been pushed back till after the Celica swap is finished.

Anyways, hope to post some more and get to know everyone a bit more!

So hello again!

the only thing i like about them is the sound, and they do have alot of aftermarket support for both boost and n/a which i like alot. if youve watched top gear they described that motor as gutless. but the whole idea of putting in a v6 from a 3200lb(may be more) car into a 2700lb celica AND rwd is just asking for attention imo.

Considering it will more than likely end up as a track car, which is what I really wanted out of the project, I don't see any attention as a problem. Not many insurance companies want to insure something like this and if they do it's going to have limited use anyways. Also the fact I don't treat the road as a race track helps with unwanted attention.

Car is still on my policy, just off the road as fire/theft. I dont' even need to re-inspect the car, just have to get emissions test done when it's finished to get my plates. I'd rather just keep it as a track car anyways.

As for just insuring a 7th gen, last thing I want is to put all this effort into it and then something happens and they compensate me for a stock 7th gen. Forget that.
