After many years, Megasquirt has finally added official support for the 2nd gen 3sgte! This is pretty big news as it opens up the doors to ditching the afm, running bigger injectors and a better than stock tune in a product for only 800$.
http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/megasqu...sgte-p-518.html Whats even better is that if you are on a budget and are handy with a soldering iron, you can build exactly the same thing for about $400! http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/diypnp-...-kit-p-384.html And yes, before anyone asks, they are planning to add support for the 3rd gen 3sgte as well. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

I'm a GEN2 owner as well...although I throw off the curve with my 5th Gen GT-S Having said that, I'm still going with AEM or HydraNemesis...which seems odd since I build harnesses for a living and the MS system would be right up my alley! hahaha Why would you choose either of those besides their brand names? Hydra seems cool, until you realize how expensive it is. They charge you 300$ extra for every new software feature you want to unlock. AEM has a cool brand name and the software is fairly user friendly, but I've heard of hardware issues with it. To me, PowerFC and now Megasquirt seem like the best options due to the fact that they essentially do the same thing at a much lower price point. You can buy the assembled Plug and Play megasquirt for 800$ AND it comes with a fully tuned fuel and spark map. Thats a killer deal! It's more than a name. It's the tech support available for those products. If by chance I ever had a problem, I just give them a ring. I'm also a dealer for AEM, so that has it's price perks. The other thing is, if you're going to spend the amount of money needed to get a 3S to the point where an EMS is needed....are you really going to whine about spending a few extra bills on an EMS? That just doesn't make sense to me. I deal with this all the time with Supra owners. They have some of the most expensive cars to modify, but are the biggest babies when it comes to spending money on the necessary parts. I'm not trying to be rude Lagos, but I just deal with cheapskates way to much to worry about the cost of parts. In this industry, you spend the money where it's needed to reach the goals you want. MS works for some, but others prefer AEM or Hydra. All it is, is a matter of opinion. What features is Megasquirt missing that you are going to get with AEM? You can give the MS guys a ring, email them, use their forums, mr2oc, online documentation, etc... Their support is rather excellent. Throwing money at something and hoping all of your problems are solved is not always the answer, so no need to call anyone a cheapskate. Id rather support as smaller developer who is open about their hardware, source code, and the sharing of tune maps then some elitist company who marks up the same exact boost solenoid by 150% and makes you pay on top of the hardware costs for firmware updates. As for being at the point of needing an ems.... if you drive a 2nd gen 3sgte, ditching the factory ecu is probably the best thing you can do regardless of your mods. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
