So I'm getting to the point in the project where brakes might become a necessity.... problem is, not many people have my exact situation at hand.
I'm running the superstrut suspension in the front.... until further notice. Given that, I have all the subrame stuff from the clip, no problem. Bought front shocks, no problem. Bought ss3 twin piston brakes, no problem. came with pads so I can find a matching pad size, no problem. My question comes into play with respect to the rotor (or brake disc whichever you prefer). Does anybody have any idea what rotor is gonna fit off hand? Anyone have superstrut with ss3 brakes? I can't seem to find much of anything with respect to diameter, offset etc etc. I'm hoping the GT rotors fit, but I'm not sure if the offset is right. If not, maybe mr2 turbo rotors? 185 rotors? I could always mix and match, but I'm hoping for some experience and answers if they exist. Thanks in advance to an experienced community...... whom I do no expect to have an answer for me LOL -------------------- ![]() |

MR2 Turbo pads will work, even though its not part of the question. Which makes me think that the rotors might correspond to the rotors, roughly the same size anyway. The rotors may even be the same as the stock rotors since SS-III rims are similar in size to our stockers.
Edit: Checking ToyoDIY, the rotors aren't quite the same as ours. The stock GT part number is 43512‑20600 and the SS-III is 43512‑20590, and definitely not the same as the MR2 turbo brakes which are 43512‑17080. Still, notice the end part numbers between the GT and SS-III, 590 and 600. Small changes like that usually indicate very similar parts, often just updated revisions. It's worth at least mimicking the brakes using the GT rotors. Double edit: When I put the SS-III disc number into Lithia, I get no search results. However, when I simply Google it... Different story. I see several aftermarket rotors that group both the SS-III and GT rotors into the same category, and use the same aftermarket disc to replace both. Specifically: 43512-20590, 43512-20600, 43512-20601, 43512-20630 are all replaced by the same aftermarket rotors. Definitely worth using the old rotors just to test out and see what happens. I'm thinking the hub might be the only difference. Triple edit: Part 43512‑20590 (DISC, FRONT) was found on the following models: Date range Model Frames/Options Found in diagram 09/1993-03/1998 TOYOTA CARINA ED ST20* 43-03: FRONT AXLE HUB 09/1993-07/1999 TOYOTA CELICA ST20* 43-03: FRONT AXLE HUB 09/1993-03/1998 TOYOTA CORONA EXIV ST20* 43-03: FRONT AXLE HUB 02/1994-06/1998 TOYOTA CURREN ST20* 43-03: FRONT AXLE HUB This post has been edited by richee3: Sep 25, 2012 - 7:22 PM -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates.
