What does the Celica use for tranny fluid? Tegs use regular 5w-30 oil. Was wanting to change it out. Also how much does it need. I have an 5 speed ST.

I wouldn't pay them more than it costs to get an oil change. It's about the same, except it takes longer to put the tranny fluid in and there's no filter to change. It's easy... there are two pretty big bolts on the tranny. One about halfway up the side (the fill plug) and one on the bottom (the drain plug). open drain plug, drain fluid, replace drain plug, open fill plug, put in fluid (it should take like 2.6 quarts - stick your pinky in the fill plug when you are getting close to see if you can feel the fluid level up to the fill plug yet).. replace fill plug and you're done. the hardest part is getting the filler plugs off. It's either a 24 or 26mm bolt I think. - aba This post has been edited by abatardi: Feb 26, 2004 - 11:51 AM |
