i have an at200 96 celica. it has a 7afe stock engine and im planning on swapping a black top 4age engine on it.. here in the U.S. if your car is in the year 1996 and up are required to get emission test. without that car wouldnt be street legal. my question is that anybody here that has a 96 celica at200 with a black top 4age that lives in the U.S and requires that your car need emission testing? if so how do you guys pass the testing with no check engine light on ? thanks in advance hopefully you guys can help me

Why a blacktop? Parts are very hard to come by and expensive, if I were you I stick with a 4agze. I think this is true about 10 years ago. But nowadays, you can interchange parts with camrys, supras, mr2s, celicas. There are a lot more tuner shops these days that have parts available as well. From experience, i actually had a harder time finding parts for my ae101 4agze though. As for the smog issue, you might not pass the visual inspection since there's no EGR on the blacktop, but i'm sure you'll get away with the exhaust test with a cat converter in place. |
