Well, i\'ve long since begun modding figured it was about time to get a post going about it.

Bought the car about 8 months ago, 96 GT with 132 original miles on the 5sfe. She has some ailing paint and a couple accessory issues, overall very solid car though. I\'m looking to turn her into a decently reliable but fun car to drive. Here\'s the list as of so far of the plans for the project:

Interior Mods:
Shift Boot
Sound System
6.5" Rears off deck power
8" amplified mid woofers with component tweeter system
1000-1200w 5 channel amp
10" sub in custom box
Relocated Optima group 35 yellowtop
Custom Skeletal tie down box
2 AWG Lighting series cabling
Suede headliner (black)
Suede door card cover (black)
Metallic Silver trim accents
Spree LED kit in blue, with custom Tach shift light override
Integrated USB plug in
Seats?
Harness?
Custom elevated rear deck with room for full size spare
Sound insulated

Exterior
Fix the sprayer system
Repaint body (probably rally blue, but i\'m undecided as of yet)
Replace shattered fog lamp (car has a black eye D:)
Redo low beam trim rings
Summer Wheels and Tires (XXR 527 or 530)

Performance
Fuel pump Walbro GS342 with 400-765 install kit
Suspension BC Racing BR series coilovers
Strut Tower Bars
Suspension Bushings (energy suspension sway bar bush, sway endlink, GT4 mcpherson strut bush kit ft & rr)
Rear Brakes
Brake Lines SS
Custom routed exhaust (for ground clearance)
3sgte swap engine
s54 tranny with M Factory LSD
Under Braces
Turbo Timer

And so it begins!

The USB mod for my phone charger, shows blue when the car is on

Right fender and front bumper removed to replace fluid washer tank (previous owner had let the car sit for a LONG period of time, all the washer lines and tank were completely filled with an algae like substance, smelled terrible too) and fix trim around headlight!

The beginning of the stripping for trim painting

New rear speaker installed after having to tediously make custom adapters, they were slightly to big for the stock mounts *yay for dremels!)

The beginnings of sound insulation project

Slicing and dicing the door cards to accept my new 4" speakers

Speakers Installed!

Out with the old nasty peeling fabric, in with the new

That\'s it for the moment, my new battery, and wiring for that will arrive on monday and i\'ll do a quick rundown on the wiring on that. In addition i\'ll be laying down all the wiring for the audio system so that when it comes time all i have to do is hook it up! Carpet out only once wink.gif

You are 100% right sir, it should be light! I know copper is a better conductor (ie less resistance) but 2 awg is significant overkill for the run i'm doing. I'm not using it for audio either, the battery, to cap, to amp runs will all be made with 4 awg OFC. I'm just trying to add as little weight as possible without compromising anything significant. Always loved the 6gc's lightness in comparison to more "modern" cars.

So you are going to use this wire for the relocation only? That's good news, phew, hehe.

So what sound insulation are you using? Can't tell from the pics if it's CLD material or if it's FrostKing insulation kind of thing.
