I was wondering what the purpose of the final drive gear ratio?

OEM s54 ring count is 71 teeth and pinion is 17 teeth. exactly what is posted in the picture above.
http://www.csgnetwork.com/rnggrpinioncalc.html no you don't get more performance, just shorter gearing. and the s54 is already short. only reason to shorten the final drive is if you have a 8,000 rpm rev limit beams motor. stock come at 7,000rpm. so if a c60 transmission from a 6 speed 2zz-ge celica has a 17 pinion count then we can for sure use the 77 tooth count ring from their transmissions.... i just don't know who has an open 7th gen 6speed transmission.
