Stupid newb question im sure Options

Ok i was driving home on the freeway from work late at night and was driving a bit fast. It turns out that a black civic was going the same speed next to me. We ened up going pretty fast.

Any how he ened up getting infront of me and hit his hazard lights twice. I figured he was just saying was up or something so i flashed my hi beams twice. He later got off the freeway an exit before mine.

I didnt think much of it till i got home. Was he trying to signal to race me or something? Might he have jsut been saying "was up fellow fast driver" or is this some kind of national "want to race" singal?

Stupid i know but i figured id ask
