I spent the morning trying to install my 5th Gen Celica mirrors knowing everything wouldn't go smoothly. For those of you interested in this modification, here's what you need and why it won't work by simple bolt up.
- 10mm Socket Wrench
- Philips Screwdriver
- Flathead Screwdriver
The 5th Gen Mirror wires are too short. They won't reach our wire snap inside the door. The way around this is by simply cutting the electric tape in the door holding the wires together, pulling out the mirror wire buckle which will make it extend real high, and re-wrap the rest of the wires. The wire snap on the actual 5th Mirror is too small, you can either put it into the door snap and tape it, or remove the buckle from the 6th Mirror and wire it to the 5th's. That will get your mirror in and working. In order to bolt the whole mirror into the door, you need the bolt harness from the 5th Gen Door, since ours don't line up with a 5th Gen Mirror, and our 10mm screw's are too big as well.
I did not get them installed due to the bolts in the door not lining up with the 5th Gen Mirror's, so I have to take another trip to the Junkyard this week and grab those pieces. They snap directly into position, but the bolts just don't lineup, and the mirrors look hella sweet on the car.
