This is for everyone on here.

I don't get to be on here as much as I want to be but every time I do I find more post about turboing the 5s-fe and there being many arguments about it's power and the same thing is being said over and over.

Yes, the 5s-fe has some good potential for horsepower but not as high as we would all like.

Stock. the motor makes 135 hp and with the "standard" parts required for a turbo is applied and after proper tuning you see that it will make around 180-200 ponies.

Any more hp desired after that will require more time and money than what anyone in there right mind would feel comfortable with. As sad as this may be, it's the truth.

If you are looking for high hp then, honestly, the 3s-gte is the way to go. This motor is not only been swapped in celicas but also the coveted supra! This is done because of this motors awesome potential for high hp with fewer $$$ spent. Also, this motor holds the record in the pikes peak hill climb. There is so many more stories about this one motor that it's insane!

If you are looking to build up your celica just to squash the local civics in your area and to get respect or be envied, then put a 3s-gte under your hood and the legacy it holds.

If you are looking to just get some extra power out of your 5s-fe, to have some turbo fun with your daily driver, and be able to make it to work on time, then by all means, turbo the thing! Just don't expect to up the psi and get 400 ponies.

If you are bored, have the cash, and want to experiment with your 5s-fe just for fun, then again, go right on ahead. Do it and keep us posted on your progress. Some people like to see this kind of enthusiasm.

Just PLEASE, don't expect high hp with a turbo and simple performance upgrades.
It works for the 3s-gte, not the 5s-fe. Same goes for hondas, nissans, and other companies. They all have motors that can and can't.

Sorry, but just had to speak out for once here. biggrin.gif

Any other comments?
