When I started school this year i was in a new town, knew no one, basic moving story. Any ways, so i made some good friends at the beggining of the year and one of them happened to mention he has a '65 Stang coupe hes restoring, any ways, he showed us 1 pic of what we could see only the front end *thats 3/4 taken apart* and covered with all kinds of crap from his garage. Any ways, since the weathers been pretty nice out this week, we decided to go and do some work on it, so he unburried it, cleaned up his garage, and brought out his body work tools. So we started to work on it a bit. We mostly stripped the paint/bondo/paint/more paint/undercoating off just to see what we were working with *metal wise*. His rear section is soooo mint, barely any rust what so ever, and every thing looked good. Only bad things, he knew his frame rails are torque boxes were shot, so we have to replace thouse, he has new floor pans, we need to get the entire new front frame rail, aprerin, and section of the firewall on the drivers side. Its gonna need alot of work, but its been fun working on it so far. Only down side, we have been workin on it strippin all the crap of the metal..aka TONS of dust and bondo in the air. We worked on it today and on tuesday..ive been coughin up bondo and red paint dust all week..lol. Any ways, tuesdays work was strippin this 1/4 pannel down.
Only pic i have for now I also spent about 5 hours today stripping his trunk down to bare metal..i got 2/3 of the trunk done as of now. Also, u gotta remember we r doing this in his garage, so we r mostly using drills and air tools with brush wheels on it to bring the paint off..and theres also up to 3/4" of bondo on his car at points *dont ask why when every thing lines up perfectly and theres no dent*. Average places has about 4 layers of paint and about 1/8" of bondo. My friend is coming over after class tomorrow, so ill download all the pics he has of it so far off his memory stick. |
