The car was foamed first and allowed to soak for 10 minutes. While it was soaking I pre-treated the wheel arches with some concentrated shampoo mixture in a spray bottle. Once everything had soaked it was hosed off and washed with the 2 bucket method. Once washed I did the surface smoothness test and the car did not need clay baring so I moved straight onto the AutoGlym Super Resin Polish. I worked the polish in until it went clear and it was left for 1 hour. You don't normally leave polish on but to make the best of the fillers in the SRP you do need to. The polish was then removed and another layer applied - this layer was left for 30 minutes. After this I applied Megs #7 (Show car glaze) working it in until it began to skin and then removing with a microfibre. After this I applied Megs #21 (Synthetic Sealant) and gave it 15 minutes to cure then removed the excess with a microfibre again. After this a coat of Megs #16 (Paste Wax) was applied.
There are 2 schools of thought on using SRP with #7. One says apply the #7 first, the other the SRP first and I find this works best. There are also 2 schools of though on the order of the #21 and the #16 but I have found that #16 will bond to #21 but not the other way around although this may be down to my technique. Here's some pics. And yes that last one is a reflection |
