Hi guys,

Sorry but I searched the forums and couldn't find an appropriate thread that answered my question. So here it goes. I'm trying to install my amp/sub/speakers on my car. I bought a JVC head unit from Best Buy (and they installed it for me). But since I'm installing everything else myself, I'm a bit clueless about how to connect the audio interconnectors to the amp.

1) My head unit has 6 RCA plugs (1 front right, 1 front left, 1 back right, 1 back left, and 2 for subs). Where exactly will those two RCA ports for the sub connect to? My amp has 4 channels, so I'm assuming those will accommodate the speakers. My guess is that I will need a second amp and plug the remaining 2 RCAs into them as separate channels. Is that right?

2) How do I disable the stock speakers? This might sound stupid but I don't see any wires connected to my head unit atm besides the big connectors (the ones with like 20 different colored wires). My guess is that when I install my new speakers, they will "override" the stock ones? Again, am I on the right track?

3) I also have a cap that I hooked up. The whole set up has the power wire going into a distribution block, then to the cap that wires back into the block and finally into a fuse block. Sounds confusing but according to the wire diagram provided, I have everything setup right. But when I turn everything on, the cap's LED don't stay on (the number lights up for a few seconds then turn off). So what exactly is suppose to happen? If everything is connected right, what is the cap suppose to do (stay on, LED lighted, etc)? BTW, my amp isn't completely connected yet (I didn't know how to connect the remote turn-on wire).

4) Now I'm putting everything in my trunk. Using some foam boards, felt, and plexi glass, I built an enclosure to fit all of this in. It'll all be sitting in a recessed area in the trunk which I plan on covering with a plexi glass "door." I know I'm suppose to allow amps to have some free airflow to deal with the heat, but how much space do I need to give my two amps? The space I have laid out for the amps and the cap is 14 inches wide x 32 inches long x 4 inches deep.

Anyways, hope you guys can help me out. Hope I can get everything up and running by next week. I'll take pics when I get it all together and working wink.gif and here's what I got so far:

4 Infinity Kappa Perfects 6.1 6.5" components
3 JL 10W0s
Alpine PDX-4.100
Alpine PDx-4.150 (expecting it to arrive soon)
