Rough idle, misfiring. Options

okay. drove home from work today, exited, decided to get a coffee and when accidentally hitting my drive to 2nd (or first, it was just for a quick second :\ ) my celi started bucking and running rough. i thought it was because i had dropped from drive into '2' but when i was driving around the parking lot i sounded like a subaru

i know it is misfiring. i'm gonna replace the plug wires tomorrow. checked the plugs, nothing but regular wear. they are all gapped correctly. i do smell a lot of gas when i start the car up for a bit. dunno if its just my imagination or if it has to do with this whole situation.

air filter is clean, oil is topped, tranny fluid fine, coolant level fine (didn't see any sign of oil in the coolant..i think)

how do you know if you need a new dizzy cap/rotor?
