Hi all
While adjusting the idle speed on my wife's Celica I accidentally snapped the idle screw in half!!! She doesn't know yet. Luckily the good half still attached to the throttle body is the bit the throttle cable hinges back on and stops, but it is only a matter of time before it falls off. I went to my local Toyota dealer who said the only option was to buy a whole new throttle Body for £817.56 and he couldn't actually guarantee it would come with the idle screw? The screw itself is not shown on the Toyota parts computer diagram and neither is it listed as an available part. In fact the Toyota guys didn't think it had an idle screw until I dragged the parts manager out to the car park and let him look under the hood. The dealership kindly contacted Toyota GB technical support who verified that the idle screw did exist but as the car is now over 10-years old the screw is no longer available. This has to be the craziest thing I've ever heard. I can buy the throttle body from them and air filters and wheels and pretty much any other Celica 6 part from Toyota but not an essential engine screw! Mad. Could anybody give me the part number of the screw or any alternative suggestion as a fix. If anybody has one I'll happily buy it from you.
