aloha, I am new to the board, but really like what I see so far. I own a small body/paint shop in Hawai'i, and I usually work on trucks, and this is my first celica.
I will upload pics tomorrow when I get back to the shop, but I have a question. I have done a ton of research, and I still have conflicting information about it-so I decided to ask the pros: I picked up a 1998 celica 5s-fe gt 5-speed manual trans. it had no motor, but all the parts were there- including intake and harness, etc. I recently picked up a 5s-fe with an auto trans from a 1994 camry with harness, etc. from what I can tell, the 1998 had a distributorless ignition, though the engine I got has a distributor. can I still drop this motor in and make it work, do I need to change the harness or anything? also, I pulled the trans and was about to put on the manual trans when I noticed the flywheel was too small at the "pilot hole" and wouldnt slide on to the crankshaft- so I'm gonna go get a new one tomorrow and hope I dont need a new clutch. I havent any real questions about this part, but I was wondering if anyone else ran into this problem before. thanks, any info would be great, and I will throw some pics up tomorrow! |
