Hi,

I am trying to rebuild an speaker system. The previous owner gutted the audio system and put in his own and then removed his own before selling it to me.

While I may use an aftermarket head unit, I wanted to at least get the factory amps working with factory or upgraded speakers.

My question is,where can I find the amps?

The one in the dash, is it the same as in the 6 speaker system? or in any other car?

The one under the seat, is it the same as any other system or car?

Its hard to find the 8 speaker system in a junkyard so I am trying to find another car that would have the same units.

Thanks in advance.

Do the 6 speaker setups have the mounting holes for the 4" mid? I would love to throw a four on the door without having to cut a hole.

Yes the holes are already stamped out. You need one of the square plastic push nuts. They are usually yellow and hold everything else onto the door.

You will need to fabricate your own bracket or find a junk OEM 4" and gut it into a bracket.

Hi guys, my first post here... I'm building my fully-OEM 8-speaker system. I have the secondary amp exactly as in the 1st photo, but I have no bracket sticking out from the carpet as in your next photos (red one). Is it a separate part? Is this the 86285-20160? Or the 86285-20160 is the bracket that the amp sits in (as in the 1st photo) - this one I have.
I didn't see any differences in part numbers of the floor parts and carpet between premium and non-premium audio, so everything should be there even if I have 4-speaker audio, right?

Awesome thread with useful information. Question: I have a 96 ST hatchback and I only see four speakers. Two 8 inch on the door and two in the side panels that have been replaced by Pioneers. The original CD/Cassette was replaced by Chinese DVD that just died. So I now have a cheap Pioneer CD single din with pocket at the bottom. I have been searching on different ideas: Whether to go with OEM double din. Found few on ebay but condition unknown
2: Do a double din DVD (Kenwood etc) system.

I read the thread but no where it mentions the 4 speaker system. Am I missing something. I did not find any external amps in this car, nothing under the climate control and nothing under the passanger side seats.

This thread is for the 8 speaker system only, which I believe was an option so not every Celica came with it. The GT came with 6 speakers and an amp and the ST came with 4 speakers and no amp.

All you need to do is get an adapter harness or use the one off the other radio and put the new one in, and you're good to go
