My door locks have been cycling a lot lately. They've done it before but never as much as they do now. Regardless if the door is locked or unlocked they will first unlock and then lock. Some times it does it again, some times not. I doubt its the ignition going bad because that would cut the car off right? It does have a stock alarm system in it. I've never fooled with it, and 90% of the time I don't use it because sometimes it just doesn't work (as in pushing the unlock/lock button does nothing). It seems to do it a lot more when I'm pushing the clutch (my alarm box is zip tied/on a hanger thing above it) but I don't believe my foot is hitting it. Any ideas? I kinda just wanna take the alarm out, no use in having something I don't use.

Are you sure it's the stock alarm? The stock box is underneath the driver seat, not up near the clutch pedal. If I recall correctly, there is a glass breakage sensor in the kick panel, but it wouldn't cause the locks to cycle. It sound like the alarm controller box may be going haywire.

Yea its the alarm box. I don't have one under my seat. Haha. Its gray. And small. And if you want I could post a picture of it.

I can't remember what the glass breakage box looks like. Seems like it has a dial on it for sensitivity, but I can't remember. If the problem isn't the alarm control box, it could be in the solenoid that sends the signal to the motors to lock, or even in the switch on the door. I'd check those first, as they are easier than removing the stock alarm system. I was going to attempt that on a project Celica of mine and changed my mind. Too many wires for me. laugh.gif

Umm, these had stock security? Yeah, the previous owner really gutted my car.

Anyway, as to the OP, this may sound odd, but are you sure its not the remote?

My sister had a car that did this and it turned out to be the remote was going bad. If the remote was left at home, it was fine. If it was with her, it cycled through. Just a thought...

Not all of them had it. It was just an optional extra. Out of the five 6th gens I've owned, only one has had it.

I don't doubt that you have the factory alarm system, just trying to get pictures of everything lined out so we can see what's what in your car and see what the previous owner did.

^ I have that.
and mine does come on and off randomly too but not as much as the OP is saying.
Mine would not lock no matter how hard i press it sometimes and then other times it would lock without me touching it.
I think mine is just the remote.

This is a long shot.... I was wondering why my doors weren't locking a couple of days ago, and every time I hit the lock button while driving, the locks refused to stay locked. Turned out my door was closed completely, and once it was, the doors locked. You might have a short in the wire for the door's plunger thingy, or even a break in the plunger itself.

My '97 vert only had one remote when I bought it, and the ignition is disabled without it. I bought two more. wink.gif It's a DEI Rattler system.

Sorry Riche been busy with work and a lotta other things. Anyways I guess it isn't stock, I always assumed it was since the previous owner (my bud) said it was in there when the guy they brought from had originally purchased it from the dealer. Heres some pics of it:

(that cut wire on the bottom of the alarm has always been like that as far as I know...)

This is the metal hook it was originally on:

(Its connected to a spring for some odd reason; I moved it up higher and zip tied it cause it was in the way of when I'd use the clutch)

Mine did the same thing, but I didn't have a stock alarm. After going in and looking at the box, turned out the people who installed it didn't ground it very well, so I drilled a new hole and ground it. Works perfectly now. Maybe it's a ground or a short like FrankB2 was saying.
