Cutting down wind noise, Suggestions? Options

I do a lot of highway driving, living 200 miles away from the rest of my family. The old 6gc has been incredibly reliable, but the one thing about the ST is it's NOISY on the highway, and that's on the stock wheels ( can't imagine 17's or above). I plan on adding some insulation inside the doors soon, but I think the majority of the noise comes from the wind passing by the A pillar. Is there anything that can be done to quiet this down a bit?

On my old Celica, I lined the doors, floor, trunk, and all plastic panels (minus the dash) with carpet padding. I got it from home depot in decent size roll. That cut down quite a bit of road noise and made my sound system sound much cleaner..

As far as wind noise..it might help..but there's nothing reasonable I can think of that will directly affect the wind noise.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured. Oh well, insulating the doors and floor should at least cut down road noise....to the point of at least being able to maintain conversation. As of now that's a bit of a challenge.

And I've long since given up using the radio on the highway. FLAC files on my Cowon with noise cancelling Sennheiser's makes the drive much more tolerable.

As far as insulating material though, what is the preferred choice? I've heard good things about frost king (I think it's called).

I have heard the wind deflectors are supposed to help. I know that weathertech makes them. You might want to try them.

They make them for the celica windows on the SS-III.
You might try finding a front bumper mounted deflector too.
You should also make sure thee aged rubber weatherstripping is totally sealing between the window and door

For convertibles - a solution that worked for me to completely eliminate wind noise where the windows meet together: Purchase aguarium air pump plastic tubing from an aquarium store; Cut tubing to length (top to bottom) of the verticle neoprene seal on the side rear window that meets and is suppose to seal against the front window edge; With a comb or screwdriver, press the aquarium tubing into the crevice lip of the neoprene seal on the rear window edge. This pushes out the lip of the neoprene seal to make better contact with the front window edge. Ever so often you may have to press the tubing in again as it may tend to work outward - especially after putting the top up and down. Good luck and let us know if this tubing solution helped reduce wind noise in convertibles. Thanks....

if you have a leak in your window, you can take off the interior door panel and adjust the nut on the center bottom of the door. by loosening the nut, it will push the bottom of the window outwards, thus moving the top of the window closer inwards.
i had a small gap in mine and when i washed the car, water would always seep inside, but not anymore.

The main problem I'm having, is the front and rear windows on my convertible don't line up and seal very good.

i thought only JDM have it for the celi....i ask weathertech and they said they don't offer any for the celica 94-99

those windows can be aligned. with time they get that way. only one screw to push the top inwards or outwards, everytime i change the assembly i get mine aligned, and dont suffer that noise.

Very good points. Plus, I believe the previous owner got locked out one or two times since there's a tear in the stripping. Is that vehicle-specific, or can I get universal weatherstripping where the window meets the door?
