A LS1 Camaro/Firebird, GTO, or Corvette gets better mpg than a WRX Impreza of the same year. new C7 Corvette I see the major problem here. You like those cars. I don't. I don't care how much power they have, it will always feel like I'm driving a tank, and will remove my enjoyment from such. Power isn't everything. |

So, the Corvette being five inches longer than the Celica and having superior handling makes it a tank? Do tell.

Feels. Felt.
After looking up the C7 you have a hard on for. Yea, car looks amazing. Light, lots of power, and superior handling. Excellent, go buy one. I'll wait... This post has been edited by rave2n: Mar 14, 2013 - 6:18 PM |

Even the 1984 C4 with the Z51 package was capable of 1G on the skid, which I was referencing to the C4. Which is the one I'll be getting. Give me a couple of years and I'll have a C7.

I know, but...why don't you own any of these? They are obviously your preference. I like a few other cars, but I don't spent any of my time and effort trying to convince others of my OPINIONS. |

We have Celicas, that's what we choose to drive. This is a forum for Celica owners. The whole complaining about you car is getting kinda old. If you want a trans-am or a 300zx by all means go buy one. Just please stop the constant complaining about your car. I love my Celica, I always have. I drive it because it's the car I want. One of the main appeals to me is that it stands out, and I love the way it drives.

I'm working on it, my Celica is up for sale as we speak. Also, I'd hardly call the accolades of numerous prestigious automobile editorials to be mere opinion. I like the Celica, I just like other cars more. Tough love.
If I'm lucky I'll be gone by the end of the month and everyone can rejoice. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Had to sorry. I know no car is perfect, I guarantee I'll be on a Corvette or F-body forum bitching about something there. Think I'm bad about cars let's not get started with musical instruments. Every car I've owned I found something to be wrong with it, and ended up selling it. They were all cars with cult followings of their own. At times I think I'm just too picky for my own good. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

At times I think I'm just too picky for my own good. ^^This. And btw I don't think anyway declared you need to disappear. If so, that is not my personal intent. I enjoy some of your posts, and often see you addressing new members. There is positive to your stay here so far, its just the complaints about our Celicas. Most of us are aware of the limitations and potential of our vehicles, it just seems you focus to much on limitations. I used to argue everything, and be just as cynical as you. Its goes away in time. |

I know I'm joining this late, and didn't feel like reading the plethora of BS shenanigans that some members choose to post, so I'll say what I'm doing to keep myself from buying an MR2.
The American 6GC is not designed to be fast. You can make it fast... but that also leads to reliability issues. Personally, I decided to route my focus towards aesthetics. Already had fun with the Koni yellow's and Eibach's... but now I'd rather have a lower, more stanced look. So, I'm changing my direction from making it a quick car, to making it a fun, slow car lol. Being slow can be fun too... it's all in how your head is screwed on. I drove my friends slammed Jetta and loved the feeling of being so low and wide. I've never seen a 6GC around here with the picture I have in my head as a setup Idk if this scene is right for you, but it's definitely one route for making yourself more interested in your car.. Make yours original, do what YOU want with it and do little things here and there. The first thing I had to do to it was to make the interior MINE. It's where you'll be spending most of your time (unless your a swap head, who spends most of his time under the hood. Huhuhuhu) and deserves the most attention IMO. That's why I spend the money on the gauge, cluster bezels, carbon fiber shifter, leather, brake handle, and the LED kit. Now that I've got it to where I want it, I'm focusing on the exterior. One thing that can be said about the Celica; the driving experience around the city and around the twisties is something I've never felt in another car. It's unique. It had sat for 2 years without being run, cleaned, or moved. I opened it up, cleaned out the spider webs, checked the oil, put a battery in the back and tried. First crank, no result. Second crank, it made some noise. Third, it started right up and kept running on 2 year old fuel. The thing had a spunk to it and a personality... I might just be a sentimental softie, but this car was fantastic. I've driven a Miata too, and it was a first gen, first production run, #150+/-. I could only smile while driving it. I might have looked gay or like someone in midlife crisis, but I was happy. The Miata is an experience all to it's own, just like the 6GC. Something about having the open top with the rear axle right behind your, rwd, and the smallness of the thing just felt right. That's part of the reason I want an MR2. (for the rwd and smallness) But I don't see myself selling or getting rid of the 6G. If I do, I'm almost positive I'll buy another lol. The Miata is an experience all to it's own, just like the 6GC. This, and the rest too, most of it anyway. There is a soul to the Celica, undoubtedly. An A4 has twice the power and doesn't give me the same kicks. -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

^^Nice self shot^^
Yeah I know posting the negatives isn't going to get much love around here, but like I said it's just how I am. I seem to find the bad in everything... For the sake of comradery I'll stop as I've said all that needs to be said. I wish I could find it, but I had a HUGE list of things I was going to do the Celica when I first got it. I was ecstatic about the car. I'm that way with every car at first, and other things... I just lose interest quickly in things. I still like the Celica, and still enjoy driving it(when not gunning it in a straight line). I've just fallen out of love with it, that's all. I guarantee whatever the next car is it'll happen to an extent. The only car I really miss is the MKIII Supra I had, but even it I had issues with. Too heavy and not enough power though, like the Celica, it handled great. I'll stick around I suppose, even if I do go domestic. I've driven a few other cars; mustangs, subarus, vw's, honda's, etc.
Even after I drive them, I just can't wait to get back and drive my celica. Though the stangs and subies might have more power, I just love the feel of the celica more. I did get a nice big smile on my face the first time I drove a turbo'd car, but it wasn't because of the car, it was because of the turbo and how it made me want one on my car haha There's just something about the Celica that I love and makes me fix her up after something goes wrong. |

Corvette's are the best bang for your buck,, very pretty cars but I think the part that ruins them for me is that every so often I'll see older women driving them. I don't know if its just me but it just completely kills it for me. Absolutely nothing against them, if you can afford it and daily drive it great. Even with Porsche's. Living around DC, they're a dime a dozen. I'm hoping in the next 2 years buy a house and once I have a place with a garage I'll be in the market for a factory five gtm supercar - just being different. |

From my understanding more old ladies drive Celicas than Corvettes. Who cares though. I enjoy driving the Celica too, until a minivan flies by you. If the car was in Prelude and Type R territory power wise I'd keep it. That's really my only issue with the car. Makes you wonder what the Hell Toyota was thinking at times. They had the BEAMS, shame they never brought it over stateside.

Sure, that's like a three hundred pound man winning against a track sprinter in a race. Something went wrong with the sprinter.
