B-pipe looks great man, Manny made one for my swap that looks a lot like yours. The boost increase by the flip of a switch is amazing, great mod. Thanks bud! If my stuff reminds people of Pressure's work then I must definitely be on the right track . And yea I have a feeling the cutout is going to be my favorite mod too. Definitely gonna give the car two different personalities, which plays well with the understated, unassuming thing I'm going for at the moment Ya these cars are sleepers with the 3s especially with the top mount. The cut out will wake the car up and everyone else around it real quick lol -------------------- st205 powered ss3 coupe

Agreed on the cutout!
If you want a spare s54, I have one sitting in my garage. Grinds some gears and it also has a piece of axle in it, so it's a good candidate for swapping the internals of your old trans into this one. |

Just a few questions did you end up swapping to SS? and are you still going 4wd? Anyway great build got to love 3s power |

Thanks for the offer! but the more I think about it, the more I feel the current casing is salvageable. The aluminum could be built back up with a welder, like they do for cylinder head repairs, and then could be fixtured in a 4 axis CNC to clean it up and drill the new holes. I have access to multiple Haas vertical 4 axis mills that are more than capable of doing the job. I could even use the CMM if I wanted to go overboard. HOPEFULLY, the replacement trans will continue doing a fantastic job and I wont have to go down that path. Just read the whole build log, and wow my 3s feels unloved now Just a few questions did you end up swapping to SS? and are you still going 4wd? Anyway great build got to love 3s power Thanks man, there's just something about these engines that makes it worth it. Not sure what it is, but I have a feeling that it might have something to do with the fact that the entire design is based on Yamaha's old race bike engines. To answer your questions, no I haven't swapped the SS yet. I would have to either purchase a lhd st205 steering rack, or machine my existing st204 rack to accept st205 tie rods. I refuse to swap in the new suspension without an LSD transmission so I would also have to convert the e154f to FWD and then make a hybrid passenger axle. Furthermore I would also have to get a new set of rims and tires to clear the st205 calipers w/o spacers. I intend to do all of that this summer. As for the AWD, I have started doing the necessary legwork including measuring and research. But that portion of the project is going to require a $5000 watercooled miller TIG welder. So it's gonna be a while. This post has been edited by enderswift: Dec 27, 2012 - 8:14 PM -------------------- |

It's very close to being scrapped. If I ever break it down, I'll hit u up just in case you change your mind. |

Thanks bud, much appreciated I'm mostly interested in trying the salvage the current case simply because I haven't done something like that before. And one thing I really like about this project is that it has me trying new things and gaining new skills.

updates?? How does it feel? Also, do you have any of your RHD parts left over still? PM me. No real update to post. I'm procrastinating on that exhaust big time. The car has been feeling good, but I just wasn't getting the rush of acceleration that I had at first. I just figured that I was getting used to the power. However the other day we had some rains wash the salt off the roads, followed by some really warm weather... Prime conditions for UHP all season falkens I was completely oblivious to the prevailing conditions though, and just carried on abusing the posted limits near work. So when the car suddenly hooked the pavement and catapulted down the street, all I could do was feel my pupils dilate. Immediately after all I could think about was a boost controller haha. But if anything this experience means that the most fun is going to be found in an lsd transmission and proper suspension. -------------------- |

Long overdue update:
STILL havent finished this thing. I have however, decided to abandon my original plans of keeping the back half of the exhaust stockish in favor of mandrel-bent stainless. This meant buying a vibrant ultraquiet resonator, a black vibrant streetpower muffler, and a magnaflow spuncat. I hope that the turbo, resonator, cat, and large muffler chamber will get me a raspless, droneless, and deep exhaust note. I also hope that the straight through design on all the parts will uncork the motor while the cutout is closed. With any luck I should have this welded and installed by saturday. Umm.... I think you're supposed to have a CAT in your exhaust, not a dog... Close though. Points for cuteness.
I like my Vibrant muffler. Good pick there! -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. Even Socrates told us to use the search button!
