Today someone asked about buying my car, and I told them I've changed my mind.
WHAT'S GOING ON!!! THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME!!! I just don't know anymore, I really don't. I'm the world's most indecisive person. Though the more I think about it the more I lament selling it, so maybe it's for the best. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

I've always liked the Celica to an extent. I don't know, I guess logic is to blame for a lot of it. Everything has been taken care of on it, no surprises for 60k+ miles unless the engine or transmission spontaneously explodes. Even if I were to go out and buy a Trans Am, Supra, or 280Z in really good maintained shape odds are it'd be in need of tires, suspension, brakes, and a timing set at least. That being said I genuinely like the Celica too, with my only complaints being the lack of power. If I could get it up to 130-140 at the flywheel and not sacrifice fuel economy I'd be more than happy to keep it. Though aside from using a turbo I don't know how I'd go about it. I have looked and found where Russian 7A-FE's made 120 hp, and I can't help but notice they have a header like manifold from the factory without the giant pre-cat. Though I find it hard to believe just that would net 10 at the flywheel. Then again a slight change in the top part of the intake manifold dropped power from 110 to 105 in 96+ models, so maybe it's possible.

^^ The same goes between the Greytop and Redtop BEAMS- the motors are identical except for the header. The Greytop has a cat where the Redtop doesn't, which results in a 10 hp gain.

Hmm, I may have to give this some serious thought then... Header to the back of the car might give some credible gains then. Especially considering it'd remove two original, and probably partially clogged, cats and a restrictive OEM muffler. Would keep the upstream O2 of course since it controls the AFR, but the downstream just monitors the cat I would think. Being it's OBD I making a simulator shouldn't be hard at all, probably would just take a 1uf capacitor and 1M resistor to keep the light off. Being in the magical land of no car inspections, much less emissions, doing such poses no issues. My main concern is how many Magnaflow mufflers would I have to throw on it in order to tame the sound.

Finished cleaning the Celica. Washed it and rejuvenated the rubber trim yesterday, conditioned the interior today. Meguiar's interior detailer smells like conditioner you'd use on your hair. Needless to say, it smells really good.

I want a stealth antenna so I can shave off the one that's on there now.
Meh, I'm just a terribly indecisive person. That's ok, if my knee doesn't heal I'll have to sell it anyway and buy an automatic. *shivers* I can't even think of any cars that I'd like with an auto, except for maybe those giant gas guzzlers of the 60's and before. That or figure out some way to swap the locations of the clutch and accelerator pedals... OR win the lottery and buy a car with those flappy pedals. Funny thing is someone also offered me 5grand for my car and I was just laughed and told them that I'll never sell my car. Then he up the price to 6 grand, I just looked at him and said, "It doesn't matter how much you offer me. I'll never sell my car" Lol. -------------------- |
