Well if you cruise exactly at 65mph, then you shouldn't have a probably with getting it better than that haha

That's about right for the GT. Its compensated mpg rating is 19/26 and was originally rated at 22/29. Having the thermostat stuck open is bad, not so much as it being stuck closed. Still... I'm not sure about the 5S-FE, but it's like a 10 minute job on the 7A-FE. Eh... Fuel filter would be good to do. Mine had the original fuel filter with some 190,000 miles on it... Could be possibly the same for you.

Thermostat stuck open isn't too bad, just safe mode until it warms up is annoying (shudders and hesitations). I think my fuel filter was changed at like 90k is what the guy wrote in the book, and its some brand I've never heard of so it needs to go.

The engine being too cold can damage catalytic equipment, so it can be bad.

Today I'm letting my brother drive my car to his doctor appointment, since the transmission in his Maxima sounds like it's about to explode. Meh...

In other news I've read numerous times that Honda/Acura has some of the lightest clutches found in cars. I'm thinking about trying to find a 93-95 Legend to test out. If all else fails it looks like I'll be getting either the 92-95/98-00 Lexus SC400 if I HAVE to get an automatic. Eh either way day by day I find the allure of a luxury car harder to ignore.

What are you guys doing with highway mileage like that? I average between 30~34MPG in the GT - while moving between 60 and 75MPH.

Now city, that's another story...

I realized that but I meant Travis' numbers; I do around 22 in the city and 28 on the highway but he's kinda backwards on his MPG.

I used to get 24-26ish in the city with the auto and with the manual I get 27-29ish.

On the way to Raleigh I did ~75mph (3750rpm) on I-40 and on the way taking Matt back to Concord I did ~80mph (4000rpm) on I-85.

The reason my city is so good is cause I shift at around 2k rpm and If I'm cruising at >30mph I stay in 5th. Typically I do 50mph (2500rpm) in town on H-150. Plus all the times when I'm cruising in neutral. So yea good gas mileage with the S54 in town, not so good on the interstate if your going over 65mph. laugh.gif

Well I know there's no fun in just going 65mph, but if I'm not in a rush, then I'd rather not waste the extra gas lol

Mine is also the ST, which is better on fuel. If you haven't done a tuneup on it I highly suggest doing so. Also a lot of it has to do with how you drive. When I'm going for efficiency I keep the revs under 3,000 and skip 4th and don't use more than half throttle.
