Well nvm... Apparently already sold... That happened with a MR2 I was going to buy... Mint condition 85 with 79K miles, white, white and black interior (my favorite color scheme) and they only wanted $1900 for it. Drove an hour after I called and there was a guy there buying it as I pulled in. Felt like punching him in the dick. -------------------- 1994 Toyota Celica GT-S 5S-FE 190k Miles. I never even got a chance to be that ass. The more I think about it the more it pisses me off. Last thing I need is an expensive yard ornament. Oh well, my luck it would've been a cracked block anyway. Still, fücking never had the chance to look at it. God damn... Now I have the distinct urge to sell my car and buy something else just to spite the universe. Yes it makes sense in my world. See, but instead of doing that I rather spend my money on synthesizers. I like them more than cars anyhow. Though now I'm think, hey sell the Celica for a Miata because I'm mental. Mental is alliterated with Miata, so that works out. Then again crazy is alliterated with Celica. So either way I guess it works out.

Feeling a tad better now. Apparently the 1.6 has a weak differential, would've blown that in no time... That and the 1.6 is an interference engine where as the 1.8 isn't. So yeah, anything to make me feel better now. Though I can't help but feel the desire to own a 94-95 model now... Oh mental unrest, why must you bother me so.

Bought:
- New clutch - Brake discs - Stoptech pads - Gen 7 steering wheel - Projector headlights (made an offer, but pretty sure they're mine!) Now I just need some interior panels and I can start enjoying the ST205... |

Painted my headers last night. Tonight I hope to wrap them. If I get off work early enough.

So yeah, anything to make me feel better now. Though I can't help but feel the desire to own a 94-95 model now... Oh mental unrest, why must you bother me so. There are millions of easily fixable and cheap Miata out there, you'll find the next one within three weeks, guaranteed. The '90 and '91 1.6 have an issue with the crankshaft, dubbed short nose crank (SNC). Basically, the bolt at the end can slip off and well, the rest is easily imaginable. It is treatable with the appropriate Loctite, some say. Better to have a '92 or '93 1.6 though. The stock diff in the 1.6 is fine for your type of driving, you report yourself to be older than ten sacks of dirt (while we're actually the same age). I prefer the revvy nature of the 1.6 over the 1.8, and if you end up with the smaller engine you can always swap in an NA8 ('94-97) differential, which is much stronger. The 1.6 diff only starts to fail with severe punishment, or low fluid, or a large power increase. The only advantage of the later model over the earlier is that the brakes are larger in certain years, but maybe that is also because they weigh about 50-100lbs more. Yeah, I knew the 90-91 were bad news due to the crank. When I said I researched something for once, I meant it. I was wanting something RWD, but being I'd have $500 in that Miata I would've most certainly blown the diff from excessive burnouts. On paper I rather have the 94-95 model for various reasons. Better differential, non-interference, and slightly more power. Being I hate OBDII that rules out 96+ models. Yeah, it wouldn't lead any harder a life than the Celica has though. Well, not too much harder a life anyway. You can't own a RWD car and not do the occasional burnout or power-slide.

I just had a thought. My uncle Mr. Toyota, of all people, bought a supercharged 2000 Miata the other day. Perhaps would let me drive it to see if I like how it handles more than the Celica.

Have you not driven one yet? No, not yet. I'd just feel bad showing up to test drive someone's car with absolutely no intentions of buying it. This post has been edited by Box: May 24, 2013 - 1:06 PM -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Today I scored at the junkyard. Went for some covers for the wipers and walked out with those plus plenum horns off a lexus, carpet for trunk, and oh yeah..oem skirts.
