V8 won't fit with any Toyota transmission. There are guys on the MR2 board that are working with a small GM transmission, but ultimately you'll need to just convert to RWD.

if you want something with a V8 in it, get a car that came with a V8.

quit trying to reinvent the wheel. a V8 in a FWD celica is just plain STUPID. can it be done? yes. but why? the cost will be outrageous. Get a 1MZ or 3MZ or 2GR and call it a day.

Then out of the 1MZ, 3MZ and 2GR, which on will be more tuneable with FI for high hp?

The 1MZ would be the easiest to go with, as it's been done a few times already. I think it'd be good for the GT-Four, would remove a lot of weight from the front of the car. As far as which would make the most power logic dictates that it would be the 2GR. The 3MZ doesn't make much more power than the 1MZ stock vs stock. I wouldn't think it'd be worth the extra headaches for the extra 20-30 hp. I want to say Smaay has a 1MZ/3MZ hybrid and is doing well with it, he could probably fill you in on all the details.

i had a hybrid but it started spinning a bearing, so i swapped it out with a full on 3MZ. there is only 2 differences between the 1MZ and 3MZ block. .3L displacement is the big one. no EGR cooler on the 3MZ. and feed holes for VVT. the Heads are almost the same too. just a tad longer to support the VVT gear and the cam position sensors are moved. thats about it. Im running the 3MZ on 1MZ electronics so i have no VVT support. i have posted my Dyno and its way above what i was expecting. 240TQ and 220 HP.

im in the process of designing an intercooled M90 SC setup

You doubting me?

So I have a plan and I believe itll work.

What Ill need is a Chevy 8.3 ltr V8
Then Im gona mount it behind he seat's for a mid engine setup
Custom made chassis and roll cage
Porsche style 4x4 transmission with a forward facing transfer box to power the front wheels

so the biggest problem i have now is finding a car with a mid engine awd setup as porsche carerra 4 was a rear engine awd setup.
The transmission will also need to be able to withstand 644hp from the big v8.

There is an easier way of doing this. A 1mz-e153 sitting on the front wheels and another 1mz-e153 sitting on the back wheels. It would be 4 wheel drive and it'd be badass

Its easy if you think about it, you just gotta weld a front subframe into the rear of the car and bolt another engine in there.

It would probably be easier than swapping in a V-8

Aside from poor power to weight ratio, traction and timing.

No, your biggest problem is you still think this is feasible. For what this would cost you, you could go buy a Dodge Viper or a Chevy Corvette and have more than 644 HP.

Edit.
I sound abit abrupt in my last reply.
Point is. if I wanted to buy a fast car. Id buy a fast car.
Its not about cost but more about the adventure.
I have what it takes, the tools and man power to do so.
Im the type of guy who want to build a Rwd Mini ute simply cos its cool.
So thinking outside the box, limitations of feasibilty and cost aside.
What american car has a mid engine 4wd setup?

Someone put a 2JZ in their 7th gen Celica, have $15,000 invested into the project PLUS the original vehicle cost...and that's just front engine RWD. You're talking about hacking up the structure of a uni-body vehicle. You're looking at fabricating a tube chassis and putting the Celica body over it. Have you ever built a car chassis? Do you know how you would register that? Pass MOT? Do you have a welder? Pipe bender? What kind of tubing are you going to use? How do you stress test your weld joints? Where should you use a 3 pass fillet weld vs a 2 pass? Single pass? Are you supposed to keyhole Chromoly tubing? What shield gas do you use with 7018 rod?

Which one of those questions is bogus?

Bitter, you're more than likely a much more experienced and quailified welder or mechanic then I am but theres no need to show off.
I dont want to turn this into a debate but what i do know is that knowing the difference between 1, 2&3 pass, type of gas used has no relevance for MOT.
But what I have got is a fully fledged workshop with 2 mechanics, both qualified welders, 2 painters and 2 workshop assistants. We work next door to a VOSA testing centre which we've put many cars through MOT from import conversions and salvage repairs all legitimate and legal.
There are many Uk engineering companies which make space frame chassis which are easy to construct and can be designed from CAD consultations. Weve used a few companies for roll cage track cars and also custom engine mounted subframes for past customers.
I am fully aware that the only thing ill be keeping is just the top shell of the celica and that its not worth any resale after.

If all of that's true, why are you asking us? Just go and do it! What's the name of the shop so we can follow progress on their website, I'm sure they'll want to do a blog about such a ground breaking project.

My name is Raymond Wai. Co director of RT-Performance. We customise cars mostly but that also includes custom builds too.
I am the one who created such parts as many carbon fibre exrerior for the gt-fours. Our best example is Johnys grey ST205 which is the most heavily carboned known four around, true racing aero undertrays for track cars and front and rear braces for the 6G celicas.
And its not ground breaking. There are many people with a grinder and a welding machine who makes hybrids such as V8 powered fiat 500s or M5 RWD powered scoobies. A close friend of mine is dropping a RB26 hybrid M3 transmission into an old E46.
Why? because we can and its interesting and fun. For me its a challenge as Ive never built a mid engine 4WD car. Searching online I now know why its so difficult but that just makes me even more excited to take on the challenge.
I dont have a point to prove but its nice to ask social networks for advice and to expand creativty. In this case its turning out more hostile and sarcastic then a creative and constructive conversation.
