I know there's probably so many threads about this but I tried searching and looked through so many threads and couldn't really find an answer.

I'm going to be getting new tires soon as I bought new wheels, and I wanna know if 205/55/16 would be too big for our car? Anybody run this size? Or should I just go with 205/50/16?

I got the car with similar dimension (195/65R15, same diameter as 205/55R16) when i bought it, so I guess you shouldnt have a problem using that dimension.
You need to know though, that your speedometer reading is going to be off for a few percent and that the car's handling is going to be different (acceleration, breaking, steering). At least that's what I noticed with that dimension.

That's another thing I was worried about, but it should only change it by a few clicks right? I read somewhere that speedos are a little off to begin with anyways, and that sometimes bigger tires put it right on the dot lol. Know if this is true at all? And would the odometer be effected too?

Yes, you're right, only a few km/h. I used an online tire specs calculator (click), where you can see how much things differ between two tire/wheel specs. It says that the tire diameter is 20 mm bigger and the speedometer offset is 3.3%. So if you think about it, it's only 10mm bigger tire and mild speedometer offset.

I am running that size right now with them 7th gen gt-s rims. they run fine. the tire calculator I check from discount tires say I gain about +3mph, but when I go through the radars I have in my city, its accurate to what the speedo reads.

205/50/16 will make for the closest to the OEM diameter.

Alright thanks, do you happen to have any picture of the tires on your car?

55 is too big on a 16" IMO. 50 is going to fit nicer, look better, and feel better in the long run. Better on performance, closest to OEM.

Don't worry about it now, I went out and bought some so not necessary anymore tongue.gif

Thanks for the input everyone, I went with the 55 because I called around a few places and none of them could order the 50's in. I wanted to go with Walmart also because they were a good price for good tires, plus balancing and Road Hazard Warranty, 550$ for everything
