I wish this board was so smart that everytime someone tried to creat a new thread with a question that was already asked in a post it would search that subforum the member is posting it in by word or by certain frases. Totally awesome feature, just saying.

Btw normal gt axles will work

The USDM S54 axles aren't as beefy as the JDM S54 axles that came with the BEAMS, but they are 100% interchangeable. Which generation 3S-GE do you have? That will help us figure out which trans you have and therefore which axles you need.

Whats the purpose of the thicker axles, how much thicker are they? Can someone take side by side pics. Wud the ss3 axles actually put more power to the wheels or just cause more weight on the front of the car?

Was it from someone here on the forums, specifically this car?

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=89926

If its not a BEAMS, it's more than likely a 3rd gen 3S-GE.

Really easy to spot based on the intake manifold... and the BEAMS are super easy.

Gen 1

Gen 2

Gen 3

Gen 4

Gen 5

see sticky http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...mp;#entry842489

in the trans/axle code: S54-06D. the 6 is used for the axle. as you can see from that thread, there is a bit of difference in the bearings.

Benny as for your transmission.
To find out if it's the E56. its the same case as the GT4's E154F but without the transfer case, and has a plate on the timing belt side, it also supposedly came factory with an external oil cooler. Requires a different clutch & axle setup to that of the S54. My thoughts are following the guys with the 3S-GTE & E153 setup

E56 gearbox

The BEAMS came with an S54 bolted to it, so it uses the same axles as a USDM ST204 instead of the axles that the 3rd gen 3S-GE/E56 use.

for the clutch setup:
You can use the same clutch cover as you would with a beams/5S-FE swap
You need a specific clutch disc: 31250-32110 or you possibly might be able to use the same disc when the 3S-GTE swappers use the E153

The axles on the SS-II SS E56 are model specific as its using a E series gearbox and superstrut. I cant remember off the top of my head when others have done a beams swap with the S54-06D if they've used their factory axles or the new axles with non-superstrut setup. If they used the new ones you should be using your (if you got them) E series axles, but you cannot use the S series axles.

Bonzai, try reading my above post first.

Have a look at the details of a E153 swap, that a few people have been doing. As being an E series aswell, there should be a lot more similarities that should help
