Update!!
Was out working on it today
Been thinking for awhile that my fuel pressure was too high an causing issues with running right so I started dropping the psi an it began to not be able to hold an idle so I turned it up to above where I had it an now she's running like a whole new car
No lagging between shifts an the power output has went up as well!!
So the hope is now to get it in a shop yo get the exhaust finished soon an start really putting some miles on her!!

I vote for a 2grfe or a gen4 3sgte.

Fits great in mk2 mr2's. The ultimate v6 swap for an mr2. You'd want to check fitment head/hood clearance for a celica. But otherwise, totally doable.

The gen4 3sgte is easy and can be done in a few weekends.

^the main concern with the 2gr, from what i've read, is the DBW conversion.. i've never looked to deep into it so i cant speak about it but from a quick glance and browsing a few threads on mr2oc it seems relatively straight forward? (as far as custom swaps go tongue.gif)

I've done a bunch of 2gr wiring for the sw20. I swapped a 2gr into my brother's mr2, and then 15-20 harnesses for people. On those, I make a separate 10ft harness for the pedal. 6 wires all to the ecu. With the Celica, you could just run the wire straight from the ecu. 5ft would be more than enough.

Your making this too tempting with me not having the funds to do it lol
Hood clearance??? Who needs a hood if I stuff a 2gr in the coupe I'm leaving the hood off to show that bad boy off lol

In all honesty I will probably be in touch at some point about a 2gr..... but it'll be awhile..
Would like to hear all the detail on what it takes

Oh nice hearing from you mr220v!! Its been too long

I've been looking for over a year and never found a donor. I found a Camry that was a driving car, but it was $2,000 or so. Need to find one that's been rear-ended, then I can most likely get the swap done for free when it's all said and done.

When I did my brother's, I didn't feel like it was necessary to get an entire 2gr parts car, or even a motor set. He bought a longblock, and then bought everything else separately. There are a lot of items that you wouldn't use out of a motor set. Catalytic converters/manifolds, power steering, and the automatic transmission. Also, you have to find the very specific nonimmobilized rav4 2grfe ecu. So since you're stuck piecing it all together anyway, may as well save the money and not pay up for a motor set.

Again, for a Celica, the big thing to look at going in is the hood clearance.

How much taller than a 1mz is the 2gr??
Only reason I've thought about a donor car is I'd get a lot of what I need at one time an could sell some of the leftover parts or just scrap the car. A e153 is a must I'm guessing with the 2gr too isn't it. What the rough cost of a basic 2gr swap?

^Your soul!!! Muwahahahaha!!!

For the 1MZ I think it's worth trying to find a donor since there were Camry/Solara that have the 1MZ/E153 from the go. I had the thought if you have the GT Celica just swap drive-trains between the two and you could sell the Camry/Solara as a working car for probably not much less than what you payed for it.

Only downside to that is you then have 2 wiring harness that you need

Everything is there, just needs lots of solder and schematics. tongue.gif
