So just got back from JayCar, The pack contained two of the EMI filters for $7.00 and I also got a 50m role of aluminum tape $11 and placed the filter directly below the line going from Ballast to bulb. I then wrapped the rest of that wiring with the Aluminum tape and repeated on the opposite sides. I also Wrapped up the connection halfway through which disconnects the bulb from ballast wire for good measure. and the verdict. I can now listen to the radio Although, on the way too JayCar I decided I would try and see if the problem still persisted. I turned my HIDs on and off around 10 times throughout the trip and the radio didn't get affected (that I could tell).... So maybe one of the connections was bad, and me inserting the Plastic buffer today (requiring the wires to be disconnected from Ballast) has lead to a better connection and therefore no more interference.... Either way, I decided I would buy the stuff anyway and now the test will be home long it lasts Later tonight I will be adjusting the High/Low Beams (finally) now that everything is sorted with the HIDs. Thanks Box So when do we get those comparisons.... I need to know if I go HID or not -------------------- SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR -----> See it here on 6GC! 2013 October Celica of the Month XD Now: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 -----> See it here in off topic! |

So, I've been crunching some numbers since I like to do that sort of thing. I had heard of some people getting better mpg in the Supra Turbo over the N/A Supra. Did some math and I can see as to why, at least on the highway. At 55 mph the N/A is at 2,500 rpm and at 70 mph is at 3,200 rpm. The Turbo on the other hand at 55 mph is at 2,100 rpm and at 70 mph is at 2,650 rpm. I also for fun did the 4th gen F-body, and was really shocked. At 55 mph the F-body is at 1,200 rpm and at 70 mph is at 1,550 rpm. No wonder they get such great highway mileage. All numbers were rounded up slightly to make for nice even numbers. Since I'm sure everyone else is curious here is how our cars fare:
ST at 55 mph is at 2,550 rpm and at 70 mph is at 3,250 rpm. GT at 55 mph is at 2,650 rpm and at 70 mph is at 3,350 rpm. Also this was on manually equipped cars, because nobody has time for automatics. Though on our cars the automatic brethren run 500 rpm lower at 70 mph. YAY MATH! -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Today I discovered a huge bald spot on one of my tires along with abnormal wear along the outside. Huzzah for new tires and an alignment boo for $$$ I am mounting and changing them myself of course, cause labor prices are ridiculous.

Today I drove the Celica and enjoyed it like I should, with proper 1-2 shift tire chirp. This post has been edited by SwissFerdi: Jul 26, 2013 - 7:19 PM -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

Today I lost my first drag off from the lights :'( (I don't race, just full throttle launch it from every traffic light I get to the front of ). An old guy with his mate in the car saw this behavior and floored his 3.5L V6 Toyota Aurion (bigger Camry) at the next set of lights.... I had him up until about 60km/h (no chirp - i was being sensible to start off with) but then my manual advantage dwindled and his giant engine won -------------------- SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR -----> See it here on 6GC! 2013 October Celica of the Month XD Now: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 -----> See it here in off topic! |

See, this is why I need a Supra again. Not for street racing, really just shame on you, but for the fact than grandpas and soccer moms don't blow your doors off. I'm sure unlike Ferdi you're more than capable of detecting the air of facetiousness in my comments, but just in case I'm just giving you a hard time. BECAUSE I CAN. Also... You were beat by a gay couple in a fancy Camry, heh heh heh... Our differentiation in the term "mate" makes it more amusing for us in the states. Only by a second to 60, and it's not worth the trade off in fuel efficiency. Yours is a much nicer colour though, I'll give it that. Just wait until I have a Supra again, muwahahahaha. I still have a lot of parts for them, it wouldn't make sense if I didn't get one. Besides, I really want to have my first car again before it's too late.

Whatever helps you sleep at night And I don't get why you guys complain about fuel so much.... I pay $6.50 per gallon here (often more) and just floor it and deal with it (..... 22.5 MPG ) And I like silver.... but I really wanted a red one...... So can you legit pick up the exact car, or just same model? -------------------- SOLD :( 1997 ST204 Celica ZR -----> See it here on 6GC! 2013 October Celica of the Month XD Now: '00 NB8B Mazda MX5 -----> See it here in off topic! |

I'm not complaining about petrol, I just said mine gets better. Much better than you apparently. 35>22.5 My uncle has had nine 6GC's with a mix of ST's and GT's and even he says it's not worth the drop in fuel efficiency. Then again his 5S model of choice is Mister Two.
Let's trade paintwork then, magically! Won't be the exact same car, I'd hate to think of what ended up happening to it... It seems though more and more of them are being desecrated as time goes by. It's hard now to find one that hasn't been mucked around with. I want a car that's stock so I don't have to fix, as many, mistakes made by idiots. That and if it's been heavily modded you know they dogged the Hell out of it. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed
