Here's a thread to post whatever you've done to your car today, big or small, there's always something to do, but not always big enough for it's own thread
Should be a good history of the work everyone does on their pride and joy I changed the oil in my rear diff and polished my car -------------------- |

Got pulled over tonight. Was going 10 above in a village and not paying attention. There is this section that has pot holes on a bridge that I was avoiding, and then you go down into a steep dug-out through the village, which you have to brake for... well I didn't really brake lol. Two cops were sitting and they pulled me over.
First thing the state trooper said was, "nice car." Then he commented on my toggle switch for my fog lights and said "it shows that you care about this thing." He then returned to his patrol car after asking me a few questions about my night and where I was going. He returns with a fix-it (for those who live in other countries or states, it's a ticket that you must get signed off on before 24 hours of the offence. Basically, if your headlight is out, they give you 24 hours to fix it and you can mail it in with it signed off by an officer or a licensed repair shop) ticket for my stickers in the back window. Says, "I'm going to help you out. You were very honest with me tonight." So stickers are going to leave the back window. Possibly for good (they were getting tacky anyways). He shook my hand and then sped off. Whew. That was close -.- -------------------- 1994 Toyota Celica GT-S 5S-FE 190k Miles. Project car 1992 Toyota Celica GT 5S-FE 170k Miles. Today I blew my engine. Right before, we stethoscoped the engine, and found a noisy valve or lifter on #2, as well as some slight noise from #3 rod bearing. That knock I was hearing was probably my engine grenading a valve repeatedly. Thanks machine shop!

Today I bought this with a mate:
She is in very rough condition, no longer registerable and has a blown head gasket... Only cost me $100 (and my mate the same). So a total of $200 and it will be parted and stripped. I mainly wanted her for the 17" wheels with brand new $250 tyres: Plan will be to strip/repair/reprint or powder coat gloss black -------------------- ------------------------------| White '94 Celica | Bought 11/05/12 | Sold 12/05/15 |------------------------------ |

I don't understand how that's not register-able. Its so clean -.- Unregisterable because it was abandoned in a tyre shop near me, after its head was blown the original owner just left it at the shop taking up space... After quite a while of siting there they sold it off as the owner was long gone and the car was just rusting and taking space. So basically the cars title is in some ransoms or an insurance companies name, if we try to register it they will take it off us, so we just have to part it out. I will also be trying a gloss black or gunmetal colour I am pretty sure ATM it is just plastidip, since I can scratch the damaged buts off with my finger This post has been edited by rentaspace: Jul 30, 2013 - 5:22 PM -------------------- ------------------------------| White '94 Celica | Bought 11/05/12 | Sold 12/05/15 |------------------------------ |

So basically the cars title is in some ransoms or an insurance companies name, if we try to register it they will take it off us, so we just have to part it out. Idk how it works with aussies but here we just file for a "Lost Title", so essentially if someone abandons a vehicle like that at a storage yard or shop or wherever and the storage fee costs more then the car is worth their allowed to sell it off. The new owner then has to file a for a new title at the dmv and they run the vin. If it comes back clean then its good to go and you get a brand new title. We can also do this if you lose the title, or if you actually own the vehicle but don't have the title, ect. Takes no more then a week and doesn't cost much at all. Then we also have salvaged titles (what my car has as the title was "destroyed" when the car was totaled), custom built titles, yada yada you get the point. So essentially what I'm trying to say is I'm sure you can get that thing registered, you just need to go talk to whomever your version of the DMV is and figure out. |

Unfortunately this guy has probably abandoned it, reports it stolen and received an insurance payout... In Australia it now means that the insurance company owns the car, if I say to the RMS (our DMV) the vin, it will instantly flag as stolen/owned by insurance company and I lose the car. Either way the engine is shot and the body is rough, given time and money I could fix it and sell it but the easiest option is to part it out, and use some spares for my car -------------------- ------------------------------| White '94 Celica | Bought 11/05/12 | Sold 12/05/15 |------------------------------ |

If its reported as stolen here and then later found to be fraudulent the police take the car the as evidence and if the insurance company decides they press charges for fraud they go from there. Then I believe the car is auctioned off years down the road (or if its not worth it, scraped) so thatd be the same boat.
What a douche, makes me said to see 5th gen end its life like that. |

Rules are slightly different I think as it is on business property, not on the side of the road. The seller can if the correct procedure is followed (but it hasn't been ); http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/ftw/Cons...cted_goods.page Still easier to part out than register though. And it's a 5GC coupe.... It's not like it's an All-Trac/GT-Four, who cares if it's parted out. If you're the optimistic type, just think of all the other cars it may save.
Speaking of parting out junk, how many junk yard Celicas does it take to find a good interior? I don't know either, so far I've counted at least ten. This post has been edited by Box: Jul 31, 2013 - 12:59 AM -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed
