Changed my driver side axle. Took 4 hours. End of it got stuck and I had to use vice grips on the end of a slide hammer. There was a weird rubbing noise at first but now it's gone... Not sure if it was the axle breaking in or if it was actually rubbing on something. Seems okay now and no leaks. *shrug*

The axle shouldn't do any breaking in...correct installation means the axle moves 2-3mm.

Then they are fine the other 99.99% of ther time |

The axle shouldn't do any breaking in...correct installation means the axle moves 2-3mm. Everything moves correctly. It was fully locked in, nothing leaks around the properly pressed in new seal and it moves correctly. It sounded like it was brushing against my plastics under the car. (I'm running a pretty low ride height. Enough so that the control arm doesn't sit flat but the subframe sits lower than the balljoint end of the control arm) I haven't been able to jack it up and see what it was, but I will after work. I'm thinking it might have been the inner boot rubbing against the buildup of grease and **** on the dust shield, control arm, and plastic splash guards that got lathered by the old axle. -------------------- 1994 Toyota Celica GT-S 5S-FE 190k Miles. I bought a Saab. *ducks*
It's fast, fun, and has 4 doors. Best part is, I traded a car with 340,000 miles and 7 years older for it. More than likely, it'll be at CSP unless I catch a day off other than just Friday to finish the 1MZ. |

Today I removed my driver's side window tint and replaced the door weatherstrip while I was at it - I did the passenger side yesterday - and then I washed my car and the wife's.
Fun. -------------------- Has no more Celicas
