The ECU has absolutely no effect on the fuel gauge. You'll need to remove your fuel pump (easily done) and check the float out to make sure it isn't sticking and inspect the wiring to make sure it isn't cracked or broken anywhere.

Theoretically, yes. That's why I'm thinking it may be a wiring issue. Might even be an issue inside the gauge cluster. It's probably illegal to have a full tank of fuel and have the low fuel light on simultaneously in Australia.

I haven't messed with any of the wires that connect to fuel related things... So I am lost to how this happened... It's probably illegal here for me to be talking about my car on the internet anyway... I have a bad fuel level problem aswell...gonna re wire it and i guess maybe sand the floater to make it smoother since it enjoys sticking
