Hey guys, me again...
My electric antenna has decided to stop working, so i pulled it out to inspect the teeth on the nylon strip.... But half of it has broken off inside of the motor (not the teeth) Whats my best plan of attack? Should i be pulling apart the unit? How do i do this? Or should i be paying Toyota about 300 bucks for a whole new unit?? Thanks guys Liam -------------------- |

Have you thought about replacing it with a Honda S2000 antenna?

The antenna mast/aerial is easily replaceable. You will have to disassemble the electric motor to remove the broken plastic track, but otherwise it's quite simple. The motor and mast are separate pieces, with the mast being relatively inexpensive.

I got a replacement mast and it didn't work. The Motor just wanted to keep pushing it in or out for longer than needed, and also it wasn't a proper fit. Toyota was gonna quote me 180 NZD for a proper mast, which is not happening. I've been trying to get a hold of a newer Celica mount for the s2000 mod, but again its hard to find in my area and Toyota quoted 300 NZD. I can't afford that lol.
My best bet would be ordering in one from good ol' America. But i've gotta find somewhere that sells it -------------------- |

Try Lithia Toyota or 1sttoyotaparts.com -- both are Toyota dealerships which operate parts stores online, at good prices. Not sure what the shipping situation is, however, as recently Toyota has been hitting dealerships with new rules about cross-border sales.

Hi Liam
I had recently changed my anthennal in the 6gen. i got one of ebay for 14 quid (uk money) in the process of my research i found the eletric motor used in the 6 gen celica is the same as its used in an MR2 (i cannot remember if its the newer ones or the older models. i hope this info can be helpfull to your problem. NOTE one thing. after i replaced my aerial mast after a week or so i started getting a grinding noise of the mast because the motor is trying to push out the anthenal after its fully extended. you may enconter this issue, i never bothered to look into it cus it stops after 10 seconds or so but everytime i got a passenger they **** themselfs with the noise. if by any chanse anyone reading this knows the issue/fix and can help ill be happy to fix the grinding noise |

to properly replace the mast.
1. remove the antenna 2. crack open the case of the motor 3. remove broken piece of plastic inside left over from previous mast, yes LOL (dont forget that plastic is non biodegradable) 4. put the assembly back.. 5. turn on the radio... hear the motor work (until it stops or until you get tired) 6. Have someone turn of the radio, when the motor starts working, IT IS ONLY then that you insert the new mast, and it will eat it like its no tomorrow... -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years...
