Picked up a 1994 ST hatchback with 122,000 miles on it for $400 from a friend's daughter who uglied the car out and totally neglected it; hence the name chosen for the project. Started by cleaning up the engine bay so I could replace the maintenance items like timing belt, tensioner, water pump, all hoses and belts and one broken motor mount; about $200. $100 for replacement radiator core support from donor car since this Celica was either backed into pretty hard at one point or ass-ended another vehicle. The previous repair was obviously done by a hack that knew nothing about automotive collision repair. $60 for driver side axle since the CV boots were toast. About $175 for new rotors and pads for the front and new drums, wheel cylinders and shoes for the rear so the thing now stops. About $200 for replacement air bags, clock spring, control module and impact sensors from donor cars so that system could be put back in proper operating condition. Yanked out the nasty carpet and dropped in a $20 junkyard black carpet that cleaned up nicely. $50 for donor driver side door shell and another $50 for donor car front bumper cover both awaiting their turn for painting and addition to ye old Terd Bucket. $400 for new Denso A/C compressor, condenser, drier and expansion valve ready for installation as time permits. wink.gif

Wow, sounds like you've already replaced a lot of stuff on the car! 122,000 miles is extremely low for a 1994, that's awesome. What else needs to be done to it?

Driver's seat needs to be fixed and the car needs to be stripped and painted. I'll be sanding the old girl down to bare metal in the coming weeks so the painter can prime and paint it back to the original red.

Above the textbox for the replying there is an "Insert image" button. You click it and insert the direct URL to the picture (must end with .jpg or some other image file extension). Picture must be uploaded somewhere else though, I use Photobucket.com.

Okay, thanks that explains it. I saw that but was being thrown off by the http designation since most of these types of sites let you upload them directly from your computer..

Yeah, sorry for the late reply. but the reason we don't upload directly from your computer onto the site is it would take too much space and slow down the site I believe. that's what I've read on here. also for your pictures I just took the link directly from your profile and used that with the image button. but for the future, yes a photo account somewhere like photobucket will help especially if you doing a project thread like this.
