I am thinking about doing an engine swap on my 95 GT. I really like the car, and it is in pretty decent condition overall with really no rust. I have read in other forums that the 3rd gen. 3sgte is better in the long run if I want to get a lot more horses and more mods, etc, but that the 4th gen. is better if a person just wants to leave as is, because adding a bigger turbo, etc. is more difficult. I was going to sell the car and look into getting a Starion/Conquest, or modded Prelude, but I just can't seem to part with my Celica. Thanks.

The 3rd gen is easier to swap in, wiring is simple. 4th gen is a bit more intricate but some people swear by it. But there are several threads started already. Try to do a search, this topic has been discussed several times

search using a search engine(Google, Bing, Yahoo) not the search button on this website. you'll almost never find what you need with 6gc search button

I just finished a 4th gen swap into my st185, and I am in love with it. The ct15 spools so fast. But, like you already mentioned, I am not planning to do a ton of nodding to it. Just simple bolt-ons.
Some things to co spider... 4th gen comes with top mount air to air intercooler. Won't work too well with a 6th gen. Will require custom intercooler setup. 3rd gen comes with water to air top mount. No custom ic setup is required... Unless you want to, of course. 4th gen will require a tachometer adapter to convert the signal from the caldina ecu to your tachometer. Not a huge deal, but something to think about. Other than that, it should go in the same as a 3rd gen. The wiring will be different obviously, but nothing too difficult or outrageous. I've had an MR2 with a 3rd gen and now an all-Trac with a 4th gen and I loved them both. It is really user preference, but I'm sure, no matter which you choose, you won't be disappointed with either. |

We stock all kinds of cool stuff for it. To be honest, the stock GEN4 Ct15b is so good you really don't need to change anything until you decide you want to get a little crazy. Even then, the GEN3 exhaust manifold bolts right onto a GEN4 head. GEN3 turbo kit, job done. If you need any help give us a call at the phone number in our signature below.
